It has been another busy week in Y4 Stingrays. We have been doing lots of new learning and trying our best in all areas. We have had some super writers and mathematicians this week and are very proud of all of the children this week.

Take a look at what we have been learning about.

Maths

In Maths this week, we have explored a brand new topic of rounding to the nearest 10,100 and 1000. We now know the rhyme '4 or less let it rest, 5 or more let it sore' off by heart, which has really helped us to understand how to round. It has been great to see the children working together in groups to tackle some of the challenging questions, and being enthusiastic about their learning.

Writing

In writing this week we have been learning how to write DASH paragraphs for our third person narrative retell next week. We have been looking at how we can create suspense and tension in our writing using short sentences, high level vocabulary and powerful verbs. This week we have been focussing on increasing our confidence to write at length, preparing us for next week.

Geography

In our geography lesson this week we worked in pairs to explore our key question: 'why is London's population so unique?'. We learnt that in 2011 from a census, 37% of people came from 190 different countries to live in London, some of us even created a census of our own to ask students. We created brochures to showcase how ethnically diverse London is. It was lovely to hear the children sharing their own unique backgrounds.

Pe - Dance

This is our second week doing dance as part of our PE sessions. Stingrays have done exceptionally well during these sessions with Melody.
We have sequenced different dance moves and made our own dance routines in groups. Next week they will be able to show all of the class what they have been working on and how their moves relate to the music.
