Welcome to Reception - Duck Class
Reception - Ducks
Welcome to Reception Ducks.
I am Miss Edwards the Class Teacher and I am supported in the classroom by Miss Seadon who is our Early Years Practitioner and Mrs Akhtar who is our SEND Support Assistant.
We cannot wait to show you all of the progress we are making and showcase our learning and experiences in Reception. We hope it makes you as proud as we are!
I am Miss Edwards and I am the teacher of Duck class. I have been teaching in Reception for the past year and have loved getting to know the children and watching them grow! My favourite subject is English and I enjoy sharing a story with my class. In my spare time I like to travel and explore new places as well as spending time at home with my family and two dogs.
Miss Seadon is our Early Years Practitioner. Miss Seadon says: "I have worked at Waterside Primary School for a year and I enjoy being creative in our outside area. When I'm not in school I like to bake cakes for my friends and family and take my dog Milo on walks."
Mrs Akhtar is our SEND Teaching Assistant. Miss Akhtar says: "I have been at Waterside since 2012 and during this time I have been a lunchtime supervisor and have recently joined the team in reception. I have enjoyed getting to know the children and support them with their learning. Outside of school I like to cook for my family and enjoy sewing."
Reception Curriculum Overview
In Duck class we love playing in the role play area! Here we are playing in our school role play area where we take it in turns to be a teacher. During this time we utilise our phonics and maths knowledge to teach our very own class. Not only are we developing our imaginative play, we are also practising skills such as writing, reading, counting and conversational skills.
Another one of our favourite areas is the construction area. Within this area we allow for child led building as well as teacher led ideas. For our story focus of 'The Three Little Pigs' we built houses for the pigs in construction before testing if the big bad wolf would be able to come and blow them down. In construction we use our imagination as well as our maths and science skills.
In reception we love outside learning. Our outside provision consists of a messy play area, a STEM area, water play, a literacy table, small world area and a reading shed.
