This week, we have been learning all about our family. We looked at photographs of our family members and shared these with one another. We practised speaking in full sentences and used our listening skills to listen carefully to our friends. Thank you for sending in these photos - the children were very engaged in our discussions and they really enjoyed sharing them.
We also read 'The Family Book' and discussed that all families are different. We spoke about our own families and compared the ways in which our families are different from each other.
In Maths, we have been learning how to form our numbers. We form our numbers in different stages, depending on our level of pencil control. To begin with, we focus on the numbers that involve straight lines - 1, 4 and 7. After these, we move onto 6 and 9, before completing the 2, 5, 3, and 8. We find that the use of number rhymes helps with our formation of numbers.
We have also been working on our fine motor skills by using scissors to cut along different lines. We discussed the importance of using scissors safely, practised holding them correctly, and practised the movements required to open and close them.
