This week's value of the week was excellence. Throughout the week, the children have all shown excellence in a number of ways and were all able to give examples of what excellence looks like. This week we have been celebrating world mental health day. We talked about the importance of a healthy mind and how we can take care of ourselves. We also completed Yoga, to calm and relax our mind.
In English this week, the children worked hard to write their setting description of the forest. These were amazing and a pleasure to read. I was immensely proud of them all. They made sure to include appropriate adjectives to describe the nouns. They also ensured they had all punctuation required to make a super sentence!
In Maths this week, we continued with our place value learning. We continued to develop our knowledge of tens and ones. We learnt to partition numbers into tens and ones using a part-whole model. Following this, we worked on comparing groups of objects - first using the correct vocabulary, then moving onto using the greater than, less than and equal to symbols ( <, >, =).
In History this week, the children continued to develop their understanding of history and how things change over time, specifically focusing on toys from the 90's. The children learnt that over time toys have changed in many ways. However, they also discovered that some of the toys they play with are the same as the toys their parents might have played with. The conversation and discussion was fantastic.
We had so much fun in Science this week. Our focus was on the sense of taste. We learnt lots of interesting facts and the children had lots of fun investigating their sense of taste, distinguishing between sweet, salty, sour and bitter.
Have a fabulous weekend.
