Welcome back reception class, I hope you all had a wonderful half term and a Happy New Year. I am so proud of the children, they have come back to school with a great attitude to learning and settled back into our routines easily. This week we have loved discussing all of the exciting things we have been getting up to over the holidays, we had circle time and shown respect when listening to our friends stories. Additionally, we all used full sentences when communicating with friends.
This week we are beginning our topic of Winter. The children will be learning about the weather, changes to the environment and features we have only in winter. We will be reading 'Jack Frost' to help us.
This week we have enjoyed exploring our environment and learning through our play. Here we used fine motor skills to move the snowballs and also our math skills to develop counting, matching number to quantity, one more and one less!
As we are learning about Winter we looked at similarities and differences between winter and other seasons. The children had a good, secure understanding of the weather and how we can keep our selves warm and safe in Winter. They drew pictures and labelled using their phase 3 phonics.
In PE this week we have recapped key skills needed for our lessons such as listening, following instructions and working as a team. We took part in different team games to practise our skills.
It has been a short, 4 day week for us and it has gone so quickly. I hope you have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next week.
