This week in Duck class we have been been learning about the life cycle of a frog. The children have loved observing the stages and discussing what happens. We have read stories, watched a video and discussed each stage. To help us with our learning we made life cycle hats! We coloured in the pictures, cut them out and then stuck them in the correct order to represent the life cycle.
I hope you love them as much as we do!
We have loved reading The Teeny Weeny Tadpole, this has helped us to understand the life cycle of a frog.
In phonics we are continuing to review phase 3 sounds within longer words.. The children know all of their phase 2 sounds (the ones in pink) and know most of their phase 3 (the ones in blue). Everyday we go through our flashcards with a variety of the sounds to to make sure we are always reminding our self of them. Please continue to do this at home to support their learning.
Using our focus story 'The Teeny Weeny Tadpole' we have re told the story. The children wrote a caption/sentence about the beginning, middle and end of the story using their phase 2 and 3 phonics. Finger spaces are becoming more clear and consistent and some children are starting to use a full stop at the end of their sentence!
In maths we have been recapping subtraction, the children can recognise the subtraction symbols and know that when we subtract we take away. The children have learnt how to use a tens frame and I am super impressed, they have enjoyed using a tens frame and picked this skill up quickly. We were subtracting 2-single digit numbers and completing the number sentences.
