Snail Spirals
Our Art topic is spirals! We have previously looked at the work of artist Molly Haslund and we were inspired to create our own spiral art.
Scrambled Sentences!
As we have focussed on sentence structure and the importance of punctuation, we have unscrambled sentences from Goldilocks and the Three Bears to write using finger spaces.
Capital Letters Carousel!
We have been working on the importance of sentence structure to include the correct punctuation. Today we have focused on capital letters - identifying and matching the upper case and lower case letters.
Practical Maths!
This week we have been representing numbers and amounts in a variety of ways. During this lesson Year One represented objects practically using counters or bears in a tens frame.
Wild or Garden plant?
We have really enjoyed our Science topic on plants so far! Take a look at us exploring the school grounds for wild plants and garden plants. When we got back to the classroom we recorded our findings by drawing the plants we saw and labelling them.
Forest School Fun!
For our last Forest School session this academic year, we celebrated by enjoying a toasted marshmallow, more den building (this is our favourite activity), mud painting and chalking. The children truly do thrive in outdoor learning!
Moving Pictures!
We have explored using a mechanism to make a picture move. We made a lever using card and held it in place with a split pin pivot. I cannot wait for our end product!
Practise makes perfect!
This week during PE we have practised for our upcoming Sports Day! We have practised a sprint, sack races and an assault course.
Jack and the Mermaid Lagoon
This week we have planned to write an alternative version of Jack and the Beanstalk! The children thought of some great ideas. We have changed the Giant to a Mermaid and instead of a beanstalk, Jack will dive into a crystal, clear lagoon to the Mermaid’s castle!
Forest School
Today we have enjoyed bug hunting, mud painting, making wands by tying knots and making observational drawings of insects.
Oh I do like to be beside the Seaside!
Last week we learnt about the physical features of the seaside and this week we are learning about the human features. We were able to draw on our own experiences from the Seaside and enjoy the images and discussions about the following - lighthouse, promenade, pier, arcades and lifeboats.
Jack and the Beanstalk
We have worked in groups to create an adjective word bank to help us to describe Jack, the Giant and the Beanstalk. We can use these to support our writing!
