School is certainly busy this week with parent consultations for the Spring term beginning. We do ask all parents to attend these meetings as they are so crucial for us to work together in partnership to improve your child’s education. In the meetings, your child will attend, showcase their learning and books and we will review their attitude to learning, attendance, how well they are progressing, what they have been working on and next step targets, so we can ensure every child in our school makes outstanding progress. Our motto is to ‘empower learners to achieve dreams’ and we need parental support to achieve this.
This week the attendance team is tackling lates in school. Being on time is crucial for us to ensure no learning time is lost. Our timetables in all class start promptly. We have phonics in Nursery – Year 2 at 9am and Reading Skills at 9.00am for Year 3, 4, 5 and 6.
This is vital as reading and word development is crucial not only to English but the wider curriculum as the gateway to learning. This week we have text out to let you know of lates. School will be following the Attendance policy and escalating where required with the support of the local authority Education welfare team. I would like to congratulate parents as this week attendance has significantly improved overall and we had our highest attendance week on 97.8% in the past ten weeks. Well done.
Coming up soon we also have some fantastic whole school events for Science week and World Book Day. As always we will aim to give parents excellent notice so you can attend the hands on fun learning activities with your children.
