Finding odd and even numbers

In Maths, we have been learning about odd and even numbers. We shared amounts between two groups to find out if given numbers are odd or even. If we could share the amount equally between the two groups, we knew the number must be even. If we could not share the counters equally between the groups, we knew the number must be odd.
