Today we took part in a whole school egg hunt. We have learnt egg hunts are a traditional activity when celebrating Easter and loved taking part. 

Nursery enjoyed baking cornflake cakes this week. We used lots of different skills such as measuring the correct amount of cornflakes, mixing ingredients and watching them change. We were very impressed watching the chocolate melt when we add heat.

Today during circle time we discussed toilet hygiene. We learnt all about washing our hands not only after going to the toilet but at other times in the day too such as before we eat or after we have been outside. We also recapped the story of pantosaurus which we learnt about during autumn term.…

Our second experiment of the day shocked us! We made our predictions that the egg would sink when put it in the water and when we tested our ideas we were right, it did sink. 
Miss Mayer then gave us water with added salt. This tricked us and the egg floated at the top of the water!

To celebrate Science day we explored colour mixing by making rainbows. We have been very interested in rainbows as we are moving in to Spring and seeing different weather types. 
We coloured our rainbows and added water to watch them grow!

Today in science and as part of our spring topic, the children have been looking at matching farm animal mothers to their offspring. We looked at animals such as cows, sheep, chickens and horses. They were able to name the animals and their young and match them up correctly. 

We enjoyed playing the glockenspiels for the first time this week! We played along to nursery rhymes, first of all matching the rhythm, and then tapping to the beat!

We have done lots of learning about minibeasts this week. Identifying different minibeasts we find in the garden and their habitats. The children have been using fine motor skills to catch the minibeasts with tweezers. We have completed observational drawings, minibeast tracing and building…

This weekend it will be Mother’s Day and the children have made cards to show their love and appreciation for everything you do. We talked about everything our family does for us and how this makes us feel. We had some lovely ideas as to why we love you.

Today, during our celebrations for World Book Day we shared stories with Year 6. We loved our buddy reading time and can’t wait to do it again soon. 

We have took part in lots of activities today to celebrate world book day. We sequenced the story, made caterpillar hats, had buddy reading with year 3 and ended out day with hot chocolate and biscuits and a lovely story.

For World Book Day we focused our learning around The Hungry Caterpillar. We read the story together and made a long, giant caterpillar with balloons! We then sequenced the story by putting the fruit onto the caterpillars tummy.
